A small chip that can help bring them home.
Each pet's needs are different. Your vet will recommend assessment and treatment based on their individual circumstances.
What a microchip can do
A microchip carries a unique number that can be read by a compatible scanner. It does not track your pet's location.
Implantation and checking
A veterinary team member can check for an existing chip and discuss implantation when appropriate for your pet.
Published implantation fee
Microchip supply and implantation are currently listed at NZ$75 incl. GST on our existing services page.
Database registration
The price list separately mentions NZ$30 for microchip registration. Confirm whether your booking includes registration and which database is used.
Keep your details current
A microchip is only useful for reunification if the registered owner and contact details are correct. Update them whenever your details change.
Book and bring records
Bring prior identification details, adoption papers or registry information if you have them.
Understand your options before deciding
Before consenting, please ask your vet about the procedure, important risks, possible additional tests and expected charges.
